A Balanced Approach
Just how did N-Balance Physical Therapy get its name? This question is best answered by owner and licensed Physical Therapist, Nancy Cano as she tells her story of why she opened the doors of N- Balance Physical Therapy bringing a new concept for treating patients. I’ve worked in facilities where the philosophy is to “exercise your pain away”. The therapeutic approach was to have patients repeat a series of exercises, with the notion of if exercise does not work; it must be in the patient’s head. I’ve also worked on the other end of the spectrum where the approach is all manual therapy. Using passive modalities, it was very hands on; however; the patients were never taught any exercises or how to do things at home. This resulted in patients being fully dependent on the physical therapist and never learning how to take care of themselves outside of the clinic. I firmly believe that you need a balance of manual therapy and therapeutic exercise in order to treat the patient holistically. So the name of my clinic, N-Balance Physical Therapy represents this combined approach.
Treating Pain
Science and medicine have made great advances in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal pain which can be acute pain (rapid onset with severe symptoms) or chronic pain (3 months or longer). Whether the pain you are experiencing is from muscles, ligaments, tendons, bones or joints, we know this pain can be alleviated by treating its cause. Our philosophy is assessing the whole body, finding and treating the root cause of pain. If you treat the root cause, the pain should resolve. Whether it is a new injury or a chronic problem we can help.
